Igniting Minds in Chennai

Igniting Minds Chennai – Student Counselling, Life Skills & Wellbeing

Igniting Minds Chennai supports students aged 12 to 24 with student counselling, life skills, and wellbeing programmes, working alongside the schools and colleges they attend. Support is available online, on campus, or through a combination of both.

What students here are carrying

Engineering and medicine remain the default expectation in a large number of Chennai households, and Class 12 marks are what decide access to both. That gives the final two years of school an intensity that starts much earlier, because families plan backwards from it.

State board and CBSE students feel it differently but they both feel it. And because the aspiration is so widely shared, a student who is unsure rarely finds a peer group where saying so is safe.

Sessions work on emotional regulation, confidence and the ability to have a difficult conversation, delivered offline after school or on campus with a school.

Wanting something else, with no way to say it

A seventeen-year-old in Chennai who does not want to be an engineer or a doctor is in a genuinely hard position. The alternative is not obviously worse, but it is unfamiliar, and the family conversation about it does not have an established shape. So it usually does not happen. The student keeps going, quietly, and the disagreement surfaces two years later as something much larger.

The parents in this situation are not villains. They are working from the one map they trust, in a city where that map has produced good outcomes for decades, and nobody has given them a reason to look at another.

What the sessions build is the student's ability to articulate a position and hold it without it becoming a fight. That is a skill, it can be taught, and it is more useful at seventeen than at twenty-seven.

Why schools and colleges in Chennai choose it

  • Practice for the hard conversation

Structured work on saying what you actually think, calmly and clearly, which is what most of these situations turn on.

  • Pressure that starts before Class 12

Sessions are open from age 12, because in Chennai the weight of the final two years is applied a long time before them.

  • For Chennai schools

An NEP-aligned life-skills curriculum delivered offline, on campus, for state board and CBSE schools alike.

  • Sessions in English and Hindi

Students speak more freely in the language they think in, and facilitators work in English and Hindi.

Igniting Minds in Chennai: common questions

Is Igniting Minds available in Chennai?

Yes. Sessions are delivered offline, on campus for schools and colleges in Chennai. Participants join from Anna Nagar, Adyar, Mylapore, Velachery, T Nagar and Porur.

What languages are the sessions in?

Sessions are delivered in English and Hindi. Mention your preference when you enquire.

My child is in Class 12 and under a lot of exam pressure. Is it too late to start?

No, though the earlier the better. Even during Class 12 the sessions help with managing stress, sleep and focus. If the pressure has tipped into something clinical, we will say so rather than proceeding.

Does this include career guidance?

It includes the groundwork for it: understanding your own strengths, and being able to discuss a direction at home. It is not a career counselling or admissions service, and we do not present it as one.

What is the Igniting Minds Program?

Igniting Minds is a socio-emotional learning program for students aged 12–24 across India. It builds resilience, confidence, and life skills through expert-led sessions aligned with NEP 2020 and WHO frameworks — delivered offline for schools, colleges, and coaching institutes.

Why is this program needed in schools?

Young people face academic pressure, social comparison, and screen overload without always having emotional tools to navigate them. In India, 1 in 5 adolescents faces an emotional wellbeing challenge, yet most remain unsupported. Igniting Minds fills the life-skills gap that traditional curricula often miss.

How is the program delivered?

Through interactive, facilitator-led offline sessions — on campus and in classrooms — as workshops, weekly modules, or intensives for schools and colleges across India, in English, Hindi, and regional languages.

How does the program align with NEP 2020?

Igniting Minds is designed around NEP 2020 and WHO life-skills priorities: socio-emotional learning, problem-solving, digital balance, and holistic student development — so schools can meet policy goals while supporting student wellbeing.

How is the program implemented in schools and colleges?

MHITR partners with school leadership to schedule sessions, provide materials and impact dashboards, and adapt timing to academic calendars. NGO and CSR partnerships are available for government schools — Partner with us to start a conversation.

What topics are covered in the sessions?

Emotional regulation and anger management, confidence-building, digital balance, communication and empathy, problem-solving, and decision-making—skills students can apply immediately in school, at home, and online.

What is the duration of the program?

Duration is flexible based on institutional needs—typically multi-week modules designed for sustained habit-building and measurable impact rather than one-off workshops.

What tools and materials are provided?

Session handouts, home practice activities, facilitator guides, and school-facing impact reports with feedback dashboards to track student progress over time.

How is the impact measured?

Through participant and school feedback, impact reports, and tracked outcomes such as improved focus, healthier communication at home, and reduced screen time—often within the first four weeks of engagement.

How can a school or district get involved?

Use the Partner with us form on this page, or reach out via the contact page, to discuss curriculum alignment, facilitator training, language options, pricing, and implementation plans tailored to your student population.

Is there an online or hybrid version of the program?

No. Igniting Minds is delivered offline only — on campus and in person — so sessions stay interactive, facilitator-led, and grounded in the school or college setting.

Is the program inclusive and adaptable to local languages?

Yes. Facilitators are trained in child psychology, SEL, and youth work, with delivery available in English, Hindi, and regional languages to meet local community needs.

What is the cost and who funds it?

Pricing is structured to be affordable for private and government schools. NGO and CSR partnerships can fund implementation in government and underserved school settings — Contact us for a tailored quote.
