Why this matters in Chennai
The early walk is a real institution here. To the temple, or along the beach at Besant Nagar, before the heat arrives. Then the north-east monsoon comes in October and water stands in the street for days at a time, and by December a good number of older people have not left the house properly in weeks.
May does the same thing from the other direction, with humidity that makes any effort outdoors unwise after eight in the morning. Between the two, Chennai takes away the outdoor routine for a large part of the year and gives nothing back in its place.
An indoor session is not a downgrade from that walk. It is guided, it is progressive, and it happens whatever the street looks like.
The walk was never only about the walking
Ask someone in Mylapore what they miss when the rains come and the answer is rarely the exercise. It is the people at the tank, the same faces at the same hour, the conversation that took ten minutes and mattered more than it looked. When the walk stops, that stops too, and a house that was quiet becomes silent.
Many of these homes now hold one or two people where they once held eight. Children are in Bengaluru, in Singapore, in the United States. The street has changed hands. The neighbours are cordial and new.
What a scheduled group session restores is not company in general. It is the specific thing that went missing: the same people, at the same time, who notice when you are not there.
Why families in Chennai choose it
Unaffected by the monsoon
October to December is when routines here collapse. These sessions run through it, from a dry room, on the same days as always.
Taught in Tamil or English
Movement is explained in the language the participant is most at ease in, so nothing gets lost between the instruction and the body.
The same group each week
Twenty people at most, meeting three times a week, which is close to what the morning walk used to provide and is available all year.
No travel across the city
Anna Nagar to Adyar and back is most of a morning gone. Nothing here asks anyone to make that trip.
How Vayofit actually runs
The schedule is fixed and the group is small, which is what turns it into a habit rather than a one-off class.

In their own words
Vayofit in Chennai: common questions
Is Vayofit available in Chennai?
Yes. Sessions are live and online, so anyone in Chennai can join from home. Participants take part from Mylapore, T Nagar, Adyar, Anna Nagar, Besant Nagar and Velachery.
Can the sessions be conducted in Tamil?
Yes. Facilitators lead in Tamil and English. Tell us the preferred language at registration and we will place the participant accordingly.
What happens during the Chennai monsoon or a heavy rain day?
The session runs as scheduled, because nobody needs to travel to it. If there is a local power or network cut at your end, the recording is shared afterwards so the week is not lost.
Is this suitable for someone who already walks every morning?
Yes. The physiotherapy and yoga work on strength, balance and joint mobility, which walking alone does not build, and the memory sessions add something a walk cannot. Many participants keep both.
Is the program online or offline?
Vayofit is designed as an online healthy-ageing program so seniors across India can participate from home. Sessions are live and facilitator-led, with recordings available if you miss a class.
Is the program planned for one month?
The program is available to you throughout the entire year, so you can continue benefiting from it for as long as you wish.

How many batches does the program operate in?

What are the time slots for the program?
Keeping in mind the convenience of our elderly participants, we offer four time slots to choose from: a) 10 am – 11:30 am, b) 12 pm – 1:30 pm, c) 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm, and d) 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm.
How many elderly people are there per batch and time slot?
To ensure the best experience for all participants, we have limited each batch to a maximum of 20 people per time slot. This allows us to provide individual attention and personalized support.
Is there a refund policy?
Yes, we offer a refund within the first seven days from the start of the program. If, within this period, the program doesn't meet your expectations and you wish to discontinue, you will be eligible for a 100% refund. However, please note that no refunds are provided beyond this initial week.

What if I miss a session?
