Why this matters in Mumbai
A lot of the older buildings in Dadar, Matunga and Vile Parle have no lift. A person on the third floor with a stiff knee does not go down twice a day, they go down twice a week, and the stairs quietly decide how much of their life happens outside the flat.
Distance finishes what the stairs start. A class eight kilometres away is fifty minutes each way here, and attendance falls apart by the third week. Then the monsoon arrives in June and removes the outdoor option entirely until September.
So the exercises are built for the space beside a bed or a sofa, with a chair and about a metre of floor. Nothing to buy, no stairs, no train.
Alone in the middle of eight million people
Mumbai isolation does not look like an empty house. The family is right there, and the flat is small enough that everyone is within earshot in the evening. The problem is the daytime. The working generation leaves before eight and gets back after nine, because that is what the commute demands, and the hours in between belong to nobody.
For a parent who cannot manage the stairs easily, those hours are spent in three rooms with the television on. It is a specific kind of quiet, and it is easy to miss from the outside because nothing about the household looks lonely.
A live session at midday puts twenty people in that room, three times a week, at exactly the hour when the flat is emptiest.
Why families in Mumbai choose it
No stairs to negotiate
The session comes to the flat. For anyone in a building without a lift, that removes the single biggest reason a routine stops.
Sized for a Mumbai flat
A chair and about a metre of clear floor is the whole requirement, with seated versions of anything that cannot be done standing.
Scheduled for the empty hours
Midday and afternoon slots fall exactly when the working members of the house are gone and the day is longest.
Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati or English
Instruction comes in whichever of these the participant grew up with, which matters more than it sounds when the cue is about balance.
How Vayofit actually runs
The schedule is fixed and the group is small, which is what turns it into a habit rather than a one-off class.

In their own words
Vayofit in Mumbai: common questions
Is Vayofit available in Mumbai?
Yes. Every session is live and online, so anyone across Mumbai and the suburbs can join from home. Participants take part from Dadar, Matunga, Vile Parle, Borivali, Chembur and Mulund.
How much space is needed in a small Mumbai flat?
A chair and roughly a metre of clear floor. Everything is sized for a Mumbai flat, and any movement that cannot be managed standing has a seated version.
My mother cannot manage the stairs in our building. Can she still take part?
That is one of the more common reasons families here enrol. Nothing about the program requires leaving the flat, and the physiotherapy works directly on the strength and balance that make stairs difficult.
Can the sessions be conducted in Marathi?
Yes. Facilitators lead in Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati and English. Mention the preferred language when registering and we will place the participant in a suitable batch.
Is the program online or offline?
Vayofit is designed as an online healthy-ageing program so seniors across India can participate from home. Sessions are live and facilitator-led, with recordings available if you miss a class.
Is the program planned for one month?
The program is available to you throughout the entire year, so you can continue benefiting from it for as long as you wish.
I liked the program and I wish to continue. What is the procedure?
We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the program! To continue your participation, we will send you a link to renew your registration one week before it expires. You can easily complete the necessary payment and seamlessly continue with the program.

How many batches does the program operate in?

What are the time slots for the program?
Keeping in mind the convenience of our elderly participants, we offer four time slots to choose from: a) 10 am – 11:30 am, b) 12 pm – 1:30 pm, c) 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm, and d) 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm.
How many elderly people are there per batch and time slot?
To ensure the best experience for all participants, we have limited each batch to a maximum of 20 people per time slot. This allows us to provide individual attention and personalized support.
Is there a refund policy?
Yes, we offer a refund within the first seven days from the start of the program. If, within this period, the program doesn't meet your expectations and you wish to discontinue, you will be eligible for a 100% refund. However, please note that no refunds are provided beyond this initial week.

What if I miss a session?
Don't worry! We understand that life can sometimes interfere with schedules. All the sessions are recorded, and we will share the recording link with you after each session. This way, even if you miss a session, you can catch up at your convenience and still benefit from the content.
